Hello Auburn Families and Staff,
The end of the year is quickly approaching! Each of the schools have exciting events scheduled while also wrapping up the learning that is still happening.
This is the time of year when I hope we can all take a moment to pause to thank the members of our community who serve or have served in the military. We are appreciative of their sacrifice and that of their families. It is with gratitude that we thank them as we enter the Memorial Day weekend.
I would also like to thank our first responders; those who serve as police officers, fire fighters, EMTs and paramedics. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated people in our community.
Our School Day Games took place on Friday, May 22nd and again, I would like to thank the entire School Day Games Committee for their dedication, organization and commitment to our students. School Day Games, for special needs students are adapted, inclusive athletic events—often organized in partnership with Special Olympics Massachusetts—that allow students with intellectual and physical disabilities to compete in sports, relay races, and other physical activities during the school day. These events are designed to be inclusive, frequently featuring a "unified" format where students with and without disabilities compete on the same teams, fostering camaraderie and social skills. School Day Games serve as a model to us all for acceptance, resilience, and joy. Thank you to the entire team.
I wish you all a safe Memorial Day weekend and I thank you for your continued support of the Auburn Public Schools.
Best,
Beth
